From the very start of the enterprise, MetaCorp has always made an effort to support and contribute to our local community in various ways, with a special attention given to those who are most vulnerable, as this group will always remain one of our biggest focuses.
On Tuesday, November 1st, 2022, our CEO of MetaCorp, Eddie de Veer, joined Ethan, his family and friends at Gloria for the very special occasion of handing over a custom made wheelchair for Ethan.
Ethan is a very brave little boy of 7 years old, who has EB; Epidermolysis Bullosa.
EB is a genetic disorder that causes the skin to become very fragile. Even the slightest friction or trauma can cause the skin to easily tear and blister painfully.
After receiving a petition from a group of students of the University of Aruba, MetaCorp recognized Ethan’s case as a particularly special one. MetaCorp connected with the mother of Ethan, Mrs. Shahaira, to offer our assistance in regards to providing the customized wheelchair that Ethan needed.

The process of obtaining the customized wheelchair was a long one. A lot of specific information was required to be able to build it, which took a lot of time to acquire through a lot of conversations with the physical therapist, Ethan’s mother and the company in Germany, Sorg, who was building it and is specialized in building wheelchairs. This wheelchair will allow for Ethan to maintain his mobility and still allow him to be able to remain independent.
We were very happy to have been able to obtain and gift this customized wheelchair to Ethan, which will assuredly improve his quality of life.
To bring the evening to a close, MetaCorp also gifted Ethan together with a group of his friends and their parents movie tickets to Lyle Lyle Crocodile.
